Sligo attacker Stephen Coen has confirmed that his season is over due to a cruciate ligament rupture.

Coen, who fired over eight second-half points in last year's SF Qualifier win over Antrim, scored twice after coming off the bench for the Yeats County's Connacht SFC victory against London in Ruislip earlier this month.

He subsequently sustained an injury on club duty and scan results today revealed the news every footballer dreads:

The St Mary's clubman took to Twitter to confirm: "I have joined the unfortunate group of people who has torn their cruciate, very difficult few days 2 say the least + more difficult months ahead thanks 2 every1 for the well wishes really means a lot, also best wishes 2 my club."
