Kelly looks at the positives

Despite being disappointed to have seen his side's promotion hopes extinguished by Longford last weekend, Westmeath manager Colin Kelly believes that there has been many positives to take from the campaign.

The Lake County will round off their campaign with a clash against neighbours Offaly at Cusack Park on Sunday afternoon and there is no doubt that the Westmeath manager will want to end the league with a win.

In his first year in charge, Kelly has saw Westmeath push their promotion opponents all the way and in they have only lost two competitive games this year.

"We've played ten competitive games (NFL and O'Byrne Cup) and won eight; it's a huge win ratio and that's what we're looking for. Sunday was disappointing but plenty of other good teams have come here and lost, there's no shame in that," said Kelly.

"Longford have some quality players and they battle really well. It's just disappointing for us after the start we got that we couldn't contest it.

"We'll look forward the championship no matter what happens next Sunday. We've an O'Byrne Cup final coming up as well, we'll play next Sunday and hopefully get the win, get to ten points and then push on for the O'Byrne Cup final."
