Ahead of their re-fixed league meeting on Sunday, Monaghan and Kerry will have a vested interest in this week's Sigerson Cup semi-finals.
This coming weekend was supposed to be free of national football league action but, due to bad weather last Saturday and Sunday, four Round Three games have been rescheduled for Sunday, including the Farney County's vital Division One clash with Kerry at Inniskeen. But the Sigerson decider is slated for Saturday afternoon, in Santry.
The semi-finals of the third-level competition will take place tomorrow night - UUJ v UCD (somewhat ironically) at Inniskeen and DIT v NUIG in Mullingar.
If UCD advance to a third successive final, then the Kingdom will be without midfielders Jack Barry and Barry O'Sullivan as well as Brian O'Seanachain the following day, while the Farney County will be missing key attacker Conor McCarthy. Indeed, Malachy O'Rourke will be down a man regardless of the outcome of the first-listed semi-final as Ryan McAnespie is part of the Jordanstown attack.
Meanwhile, Ronan Shanahan is on the DIT team so Kerry manager Eamonn Fitzmaurice will be hoping it's a UUJ V NUIG Sigerson showdown!
