Patrick Curran was the hero as DCU claimed LIT's scalp in Group C of the Fitzgibbon Cup in Limerick this afternoon.

The Waterford star fired over the winning point to bring his tally to 1-6 as the Dublin students pulled off an upset. Donal Burke also scored 2-3, with the first of his goals coming in the 11th minute. Curran netted five minutes later to give the winners a 2-7 to 0-8 lead at the interval.

A Peter Duggan penalty four minutes after the restart brought the Limerick side back into it and the Clare senior eventually levelled before Curran's 62nd minute winner decided it.
