MAYO'S Fiona McHale is the Croke Park Hotel Player of the Month award winner for December.

The individual accolade for 30-year-old McHale rounds off a memorable year for the dynamic midfielder.

McHale was outstanding in Carnacon's march to a sixth All-Ireland senior club title, producing a string of eye-catching displays.

McHale, a 2016 All-Star recipient, was player-of-the-match in the Connacht club final replay victory over Galway's Kilkerrin-Clonberne and she shone in the All-Ireland series that followed.

McHale scored 1-2 as Carnacon accounted for Tyrone's St Macartan's at the semi-final stage, before delivering another player-of-the-match display in the final against Cork opponents Mourneabbey earlier this month.

McHale was also a key member of the Mayo team that contested the TG4 All-Ireland senior final against Dublin at Croke Park in September.
