Cork's 2018 hurling hopes have received a huge boost with the news that Eoin Cadogan is to concentrate on the small ball code next year.

The Irish Examiner is reporting that the Douglas dual star will throw his lot in with John Meyler's hurlers after a four-year absence. His decision is surprising given that new Cork football manager Ronan McCarthy is a club-mate of his, while only last month he played in the International Rules series in Australia.

The 31-year-old will now link up with his younger brother Alan, who has become a regular in the Cork hurling attack in recent years.
