Morrissey set for spell on sidelines

December 15, 2017

The Ballyragget players and management celebrate with the Kilkenny IHC silverware.

St Patrick's Ballyragget defender Geoff Morrissey could miss the All-Ireland club IHC series as he is set for a lengthy spell on the sideline.

The teak tough defender has had an excellent year for the club as they lifted the Kilkenny title before adding Leinster honours to their list of accolades for the year.

In that provincial final, Morrissey damaged the AC joint in his shoulder and he will have to have surgery on the injury before rehabilitation will begin.

Ballyragget take on Mayo senior champions Tooreen in the All-Ireland club IHC semi-final on the weekend of Saturday January 20th and it is unlikely that Morrissey will feature.

In better news, Barry Staunton looks set to recover from a punctured lung sustained in the first outing of the Leinster club for the semi-final as will Seoirse Kenny who broke a finger in the provincial final win over Glenealy.
