Like most counties in the country, Roscommon are appealing for more people to become referees.

There are a shortage of referees in the majority of counties across the country and Roscommon are just the latest to make an appeal for more people to get involved with officiating at matches.

Roscommon GAA along with the Referee's Committee have held a number of recruitment drives, but numbers are still falling well short of the quota needed.

Referee Administrator Haulie Beirne told the Roscommon Herald: "Unfortunately we are aware that quite a number of clubs within the county still have no representation on the referees' panel.

"We, as a committee can only do so much. We try our utmost but the responsibility falls solely with clubs to work with the Referee's Committee to solve the problem."
