McConville calls it a day

Armagh's Oisin McConville
Oisin McConville has confirmed his retirement from inter-county football in the wake of Armagh's shock All-Ireland quarter-final exit at the hands of Wexford.
The Crossmaglen scoring machine, who won ever honour during an illustrious playing career, admitted his disappointment at the amount of playing time he received in this year's championship, with his second half substitute appearance against Fermanagh in the drawn Ulster final his sole participation.
"I thought I was in the shake-up, but obviously the management had other notions. I have to accept that and grin and bear it," he said.
The Crossmaglen clubman claimed that this year's Ulster triumph "doesn't mean a big pile" to an Armagh team that had their sights set on bigger things.
"I wasn't playing an extra year to win an Ulster title. I suppose for the younger lads who haven't played in Ulster before it is good to win."
McConville holds the distinction of being the highest scorer in the history of the Ulster championship. He is also the holder of seven Ulster SFC medals, one All-Ireland and two All-Stars (2000 and 2002). He has also won four All-Ireland club medals with Crossmaglen.
A number of other Armagh players are believed to be considering their inter-county futures, including Paul McGrane, Francie Bellew, Enda McNulty and Aidan O'Rourke.
