Former Armagh All Star Jamie Clarke has joined up with American soccer outfit New York Shamrocks.

The Crossmaglen man took the decision to opt out of Armagh's 2016 campaign to travel around the US, and now looks set to make his stay more permanent after signing with the Cosmopolitan League Division 1 side.

Fellow Irishman Kevin Grogan - a former trainee with Manchester United - is over the team and has clearly been impressed by Clarke's talents.

Speaking to NYShamrockSC.com, Clarke stated: "I am very happy to link up with the Shamrocks and I'm looking forward to the season starting now.

"I have enjoyed moving to New York and I was keen to find a soccer club that plays at a competitive level. It's been a good experience training under Kevin and he offers great advice and coaching experience. We're all focused on the first game now and ensuring that we can start off with a win."
