Aaron Kernan sees Armagh's refixture against Laois as an opportunity for Kieran McGeeney's men to prove that they are better than they showed last Saturday.

The Orchard were unexpectedly restored to the championship on Tuesday after the CCCC ordered a replay next Saturday in Portlaoise after it emerged that Laois had used one sub too many in winning the original fixture.

"If I'm an Armagh player, the first thing I would say is 'great, I'm getting another chance'. Next January's McKenna Cup was the next fixture you had to look forward to. It's an opportunity they didn't think they were going to get last Saturday evening so I would like to think they will all be fully embracing it," former Armagh star Kernan said in the Irish News.

"They didn't play to their potential last week and there wasn't a whole pile between the teams so I'd like to see them going and having a cut at it as it's an opportunity now to go and make the most out of it and to see if they can salvage something out of the season again.

"From a Laois perspective, they'll probably feel a bit more hard done by. When the draw came out on Monday morning, they had probably already switched to looking at building for a game against Clare. They now have to switch back over this week to old ground and Armagh again. Psychologically, it may have more of an impact on them.

"You nearly always learn more from a defeat than a victory.

"The fact that they have got another opportunity to stay in the championship is one that they really should be embracing. I'd like to think that it has energised the group of boys and that they'll be looking forward to going again."
