Tony McEntee received a double dose of disappointment on Saturday.

McEntee's native Armagh suffered an early championship exit at the hands of Laois in Portlaoise before further disappointment followed for the 2002 All-Ireland winner when the Mayo team he coaches were dethroned as Connacht champions by Galway in Castlebar.

Mayo's surprise defeat is likely to see a round of SFC and IFC games in the county fixed for next weekend. Stephen Rochford's charges will face one of Fermanagh, Wexford, Down, Longford, Antrim, Limerick, Offaly or London in Round 2B of the All-Ireland qualifiers, the draw for which will be made next Monday morning.
