Dublin and Armagh to appeal €10,000 fines

Dublin and Armagh will appeal the proposed fines handed down to them by the GAA's disciplinary body following an investigation into a SF challenge earlier this month.

Dublin's Davey Byrne was left hospitalised with a broken nose following an incident before the throw-in to the game which was played at DCU.

The Irish Independent reports that neither county was willing to reveal the identity of the Armagh player involved and that video footage failed to shed any light on the altercation.

As a result, the Central Competitions Controls Committee has proposed fines of €10,000 for each county, and not €5,000 as was originally reported last week.

The GAA launched a probe after Dublin manager Jim Gavin acknowledged the Byrne incident in a radio interview and the indications at this stage are that Dublin and Armagh will appeal the CCCC's decision.
