Davey Byrne has been ruled out of the Leinster SFC final after sustaining serious facial injuries before throw-in in a challenge against Armagh.
The Orchard County and the Dubs met in a behind-closed-doors encounter last Thursday and the Ballymum Kickhams clubman had to be hospitalised following the incident, which is reported to have caused a broken nose and fractured eye socket among other facial injuries.
The injuries were so severe that the Dublin star - who captained his club in the 2013 All-Ireland senior club decider - spent two nights in the Beaumont.
He will play no part in Sunday's provincial decider against Westmeath.
