Former Armagh All-Ireland winning full back Justin McNulty has failed in his bid to become an MP.

Running for the SDLP in the Northern Ireland elections, McNulty secured 12,026 votes in the Newry & Armagh constituency to finish third. Mickey Brady of Sinn Féin took the seat with 20,488, while the UUP's Danny Kennedy polled 16,312 votes.

McNulty lined out alongside his brother Enda in the full back line when Armagh won their maiden All-Ireland title in 2002. He managed Laois between 2011 and 2013.
