Under 8 & 10 Football / Peil Faoi 8 & 10

From Tuesday 14 April 2015 U8 football training will be outdoors.  Training will take place at the Cross Roads Football Pitch from 7pm.  Kids are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.  If you have any questions please contact Anthony Havern our Under 8 Football Manager on 07805 853032.  We would like to thank Barcroft Community Centre for the use of their facilities during the past few weeks.

Under 16 training continues Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
It's been a baptism of fire for our small under 16 panel so far this spring. The panel have had three games within a week in an effort to get their fitness up for the start of the league.
Last Saturday Thomas Davis lost to local rivals Carrickcruppen. After a poor showing in the first half the boys took the game to their neighbours in the second half and won the second half but conceded a late goal in their attempts to close the gap. It was team captain Conor Jennings (who scored 4 points from frees) that took most of the boys scores on the day but Matty Dowdall who really stood out in defence for the Newry Boys.

On Thursday the Thomas Davis boys took to the field in their first league game against the combined might of three clubs, now amalgamated as Shamrock Gaels. The boys worked tirelessly especially goalkeeper Dean Sheridan but lost their first game 3-9 to 0-5. 
On Sunday, a weakened Thomas Davis, again lost to local rivals John Mitchels. The Mitchels played with the wind in the first half and punished the Corrinshego boys again and again. However it was another good second half showing that enabled the boys to close the deficit with Jonjo Cranney tirelessly foraging up and down the pitch.   Better luck next week lads!
