Gaelic for Girls

The club is holding an eight week Gaelic for Girls programme for girls aged 8 - 12 years old. It all starts on Saturday 22nd November at the Shanes from 11.00am - 12.30pm and any young girls who want to have fun with fitness and football and make new friends along the way are all very welcome to attend. The cost of this eight week programme is only £10.00 and each participant will receive a certificate, a medal and a t-shirt on completion. For further information please contact Paul McArdle on 028 889216 or (086) 8372082.

Minor Girls

With two weeks to go until their opening game in the Ulster club championship our minor girls had their final challenge at home to the Armagh minor ladies development squad on Sunday morning. Every player got plenty of playing time and all gave a wholehearted display throughout. After three 20 minute periods Shanes managed to come out on top by twelve points. Many thanks to Tommy Coleman for helping to organise the game, to Kevin Gollagly for refereeing and to all the players on both teams for an outstanding and sporting match. Training continues on Thursday at Carrickruppen from 6.30pm - 8.00pm. The club is running a supporters bus to the minor girls Ulster club championship game against St Macartans (Tyrone) in Augher on Sunday 23rd November at a cost of £5.00 per person. The club is encouraging as many people as possible to attend the game in their club colours to support the girls, especially underage players for other boys and girls teams. To book a seat on the bus please contact Peter Lynch on 07876453546.

U10s & U8s Presentation

Last Tuesday night saw our U10s and U8s held their annual presentation to reward the boys and girls for their performances throughout the year and all their hard work and commitment. These two teams played a huge amount of football this year and won a total of five trophies between them - a tremendous achievement by these young players and hopefully a sign of things to come. They all went bowling on Tuesday evening before returning to the club for something to eat. On behalf of the club I would like to congratulate all the boys and girls for their achievements over the year and a special word of thanks to Seamie O'Hare, John Grant, Joe Lennon and anyone else who helped to train and coach both these teams - your efforts are greatly appreciated by the club. Thanks also to all the parents who were on hand throughout the year to help out and assist when needed and again this greatly appreciated by the club.

U16 Presentation

The club is holding a combined presentation night on Saturday 15th November for this year's U16 boys and girls. The boys will receive their Division 2 league winner's medals whilst the girls will receive the championship runners-up medals. The presentation will start at 7.30pm and will be followed by a disco.

AGM

The club's Annual General Meeting has been scheduled to take place on Sunday 30th November 2014 at 2.30pm. Anyone who has any interest in the club - current club members, past club members, current players, past players, underage parents etc - are invited to attend as the club prepares for another busy year.

Youth Meeting

A meeting to discuss underage football and management structures for 2015 has been organised for this Tuesday 11th November at 7.30pm in the clubhouse. We want to get organised as early as possible for next year and anyone who has an interest in any of the underage teams from U6 up and is willing to help out in any way is welcome to attend. There are many roles to fill from management, coaching, registration, fundraising, transport, kit etc. We look forward to seeing as many people there as possible, old and new alike, as we plan for next year and we are encouraging as many people as possible to get onboard.

Congratulations

Congratulations this week to Louise Kenny, Aimee Mackin and Blaithin Mackin who all received Ulster College All-Star awards last week. Well done girls, a tremendous honour for all of you and as has been said many times before you are all a credit to your families, your club and your community.
