Former managers to assist McGeeney

Kieran McGeeney will have two former Armagh managers in his backroom team next season.

Working alongside the new Orchard County supremo will be Brian McAlinden and Peter McDonnell. McAlinden was joint manager with Brian Canavan when Armagh won Ulster titles in 1999 and 2000 before they handed over the reins to Joe Kernan. When Kernan stepped down in 2008, he was succeeded by McDonnell.

Martin McQuillan completes the management team, having also been involved last season with McGeeney, McDonnell and former manager Paul Grimley.

There was speculation last month that Grimley would remain part of the management, but this has proven to be wide of the mark.
