Managerial candidates Tony McEntee and Gareth O'Neill will meet with Down County Board officials tonight.

The Armagh duo are in the running to succeed James McCartan as Down senior football manager and, according to The Irish News, they are the preferred choice of a number of the Mourne County's players.

The former Crossmaglen Rangers co-managers were originally due to meet with the County Board on Saturday night to outline their proposals to bring Down forward but the meeting was deferred due to club championship action.

It is believed that 2005 All-Ireland winning minor boss Mark Turley has already been interviewed for the vacant post, while Kilcoo manager Jim McCorry and Bryansford's Frank Dawson are also in the running.
