Wolfe Tones & St Enda's GAC Derrymacash notes

July 21, 2014
Peil/Football
The senior footballers travelled to the Grange on Friday night and came away with two points following another good away win. The sides traded scores for the first 15 minutes with the visitors leading 0-4 to 0-3. Four consecutive scores from the Tones extended the lead, including a fantastic point from Declan Lavery. The Grange pulled one back before Emmet Haughian finished a very well-worked move to hit the first three pointer of the game. The visitors led at half time 1-8 to 0-4. The Grange opened the scoring in the second half but the Tones responded with 1-3 with the goal coming from the impressive James Doyle. The Grange response was immediate with a goal within seconds, but the Tones steadied the ship again with two points. Points were traded by the two sides over the last ten minutes and the Tones finished comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-16 to 1-9. Best wishes to James Doyle and Adam McKeever who picked up injuries on Friday. Next up for the senior footballers is a home tie against Lissummon on Friday evening.
Hard luck to our Under 10s who were narrowly beaten after extra time in the semifinal of the Shield competition at yesterday's Truagh Gaels tournament. Go raibh maith agat to the 3 Under 8s who played alongside their Under 10 team mates. Maith sibh a pháistí.
Well done to Armagh seniors who had a great win over Roscommon at the weekend and go on to play Meath in the last round of the Qualifiers. The minors lost out to Dún na nGall in the Ulster final on Sunday but will go into the All-Ireland quarter finals where they will face Maigh Eo.

Camógaíocht/Camogie
Thank you to everyone who attended Sunday's Bacon Bap Breakfast at the club in support our camogie teams. It proved to be a big success and we would like to thank all of the camogie girls who helped out on the day. In particular, we would like to thank Elaine Caughey who organised all of the food, which was very generously sponsored by Jim Mc Cann family butchers, Joe Conway at Magheralin Centra, Gavin Henderson at Henderson's Fruit Shop & Ben Campbell. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir. All proceeds from the day went towards camogie fees and underage development.
Campa samhraidh/Summer camp
This year's football and camogie summer camp will take place at the club between Tuesday 12 August and Friday 15 August. Forms have been issued by team mentors or you can contact Margaret McCorry for more information.
