Wolfe Tones & St Enda's GAC Derrymacash notes

July 07, 2014
Peil/Football
The senior footballers made the long journey to Mullaghbane on Friday evening and it proved to be a very fruitful trip with two points coming back to Derrymacash. The Tones produced a fantastic performance and blitzed the opposition with a huge scoring tally, including six goals, two from James Doyle and one from Niall Geoghegan in the first half and a second half hat-trick from Ryan McQuillan. The final score was Tones 6-12 Mullaghbane 1-5.
Our B team played Éire Óg last week and produced a good comeback in the final ten minutes to earn a draw. The minors experienced a defeat to Naomh Eoin on a scoreline of 3-12 to 0-10. We wish a speedy recovery to Caolán McCaughley who sustained an injury during the game. Next up for the minors is a home game against Tír na nÓg on Monday 7 July. The Under 16s have been drawn against Killeavy in the Division 1 Shield competition. The game will be played at Páirc na Ropairí on a date yet to be confirmed.
Hard luck to Ard Mhacha who lost to Muineachán in the Ulster semi-final replay on Sunday. We wish the boys the best of luck for their game in the Qualifiers this weekend against Tír Eoghain. Ádh mór oraibh. Ard Mhacha abú. Well done to the county lady footballers who produced a great performance to defeat a five-in-a-row seeking Muineachán side to claim an Ulster title. Maith sibh a chailíní. Well done girls.
Camógaíocht/Camogie
The camogs will be holding a fundraising bacon bap breakfast morning on Sunday 20 July from 10am at the club. Call down to the club for your breakfast for just £3 and all proceeds go to underage camogie development.
Well done to Catherine Henderson who secured a £454 grant from Craigavon Sports Advisory Council for our camogie teams. Go raibh míle maith agat to Craigavon Council for this very welcome financial assistance.
Peil na Máithreacha/Gaelic4Mothers
Our Gaelic4Mothers team travelled to Randalstown at the weekend to take part in an Ulster blitz for Gaelic for Mothers and Others teams from across the province. The girls had a fantastic day out and even managed a victory, as well as a couple of draws. Maith sibh a chailíní. Well done to all of the girls.
Campa samhraidh/Summer camp
This year's football and camogie summer camp will take place at the club between Tuesday 12 August and Friday 15 August. Forms will be given out by mentors in the coming week.
