The U20 football championship is set to take centre stage at Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day in place of the All-Ireland club senior finals.

The Irish Independent reports today that either the All-Ireland U20FC final or a semi-final double-header will take place at headquarters next March 17th, depending on the scheduling of the provincial games.

The staging of the club finals in Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day have been a tradition since the mid -1980s but they are set to be moved to January with the GAA eventually hoping to have them wrapped up before Christmas in years to come.

Saturday week’s Central Council meeting is expected to see the U20 proposal approved when discussions take place for the 2020 fixtures plan.
