Armagh defender Aidan Forker says he’d be “absolutely gutted” if Kieran McGeeney wasn’t in charge of the team again next season.

McGeeney told reporters after last Saturday one-point loss to Mayo in Castlebar that he has “101 reasons” for walking away from his managerial post after five seasons in charge in the Orchard County, but also expressed that he enjoyed working with the group.

“I would be absolutely gutted if Kieran decided to step away or if anything happened that Kieran wouldn’t be in place,” Forker is quoted saying by The Irish News.

“I think the proof is there that this team has taken a step forward – maybe not in our results at times but it things people don’t see within the group itself. The culture of the group is 10 times better than it was when I first came in seven years ago and that’s no disrespect to any of the other managers I played under.

“But we feel like we’re on a graph that’s on an upward curve and I feel that a lot of that is down to Kieran.”
