Orchard to appeal Donaghy red card

Armagh's Brendan Donaghy drops his knee on Cavan's Killian Clarke.

Armagh hope to have Brendan Donaghy available for next Sunday's Ulster SFC semi-final replay against Cavan in Clones.

Assistant manager Jim McCorry confirmed after yesterday's dramatic drawn encounter that they will be appealing the straight red card which the defender received from referee Derek O'Mahoney on the stroke of full-time.

“The referee said Brendan had come down on the man, Brendan was fairly adamant that he hadn’t so we’ll have a look at the video and we’ll probably be appealing that one because Brendan’s a key player for us,” McCorry told the Belfast Telegraph.

“The umpire had indicated to Brendan as well that there was nothing in that, so we’ll have to see how that one pans through this week.”

Cavan also had substitute Ciaran Brady red-carded in normal time, but have yet to reveal if they will be lodging an appeal.
