Armagh's Sheridan hit with retrospective ban

March 08, 2019

Armagh's Stephen Sheridan evades the challenge of Donegal's Michael Langan and inset the Forkhill clubman appears to stamp on the leg of Eoghan Ban Gallagher during the same game.

Armagh are facing the prospect of being without midfielder Stephen Sheridan for Saturday week's Allianz Football League clash with Fermanagh after he was served with a two-game retrospective ban.

The CCCC proposed the ban for the Forkhill clubman after reviewing video evidence which appeared to show him stamping on the leg of Eoghan Ban Gallagher during the Orchard County's defeat to Donegal last weekend.

It's another blow to Kieran McGeeney's side who are also set to be without defender James Morgan for the Fermanagh game after both he and Donegal's Jason McGee were issued with straight red card during last Saturday's night 'stormy' encounter in Ballybofey.

Armagh are expected to appeal Morgan's suspension with county board chairman Michael Savage saying in the Belfast Telegraph: "We will take stock of the situation. Obviously to lose two experienced players at this crucial stage of the league would be a big blow.

"We have to face Fermanagh and then Cork in our last two league games and obviously both those counties will be very keen to get the points albeit for different reasons."
