Donal Murtagh celebrates with Stephen Clarke after Crossmaglen's All-Ireland club SFC semi-final win over St Brigid's in 2007

2007 All-Ireland club SFC winning boss Donal Murtagh has been linked with a return to Crossmaglen Rangers.

The Irish News reports that Murtagh is one of the candidates being considered by the Armagh giants following Gareth O'Neill's decision to step down as manager in the aftematch of this season's championship semi-final defeat to Maghery.

During his four-year with the club, Murtagh won three Ulster and county titles apiece during the late 2000s, along with their fourth All-Ireland triumph 10 years ago, before going on to serve as one of Paddy O'Rourke's selectors with Orchard County in 2010.

The club's joint U21 managers Kieran Donnelly and Francis Fitzpatrick are also being tipped for the vacant senior post, with the possibility of all three men being involved in the new management set-up.
