Gearoid Adams will not be part of the Antrim senior football management team in 2018.

The St John's clubman is part of the outgoing management team alongside co-manager Frank Fitzsimons, but has opted not to allow his name to go forward for reappointment after the County Board invited the county's clubs to submit nominations for the post.

Former team captain Adams joined the backroom team in 2016 but, as the deadline for nominations was yesterday, he has now effectively severed his ties with the Saffrons.

However, his co-manager this year, Fitzsimons, has been nominated by his club Lamh Dhearg. The full list of nominees - which includes former St Gall's player and manager Carl McCabe as well as Coalisland boss John McKeever - will be revealed at next week's County Board meeting.
