Casement Park has become a terrible eyesore

It's hard to believe that Casement Park was once one of the premier GAA venues in the country.

Sad to say, the Belfast venue has fallen into wrack and ruin since it closed its gates three years ago as this photo taken this morning by Brendan Crossan of the Irish News shows. The home of Antrim GAA was due to undergo a £77 million redevelopment which would have transformed it into a 40,000 all-seater stadium, but those plans were dashed by a High Court decision in December 2014 after an objection by a residents' group was upheld.

The GAA remains committed to redeveloping the famous old ground which is now covered in weeds, bushes and ragwort.
