A young Antrim GAA star who suffered a serious head injury in a road accident last February has achieved top AS-level grades.
Odhrán McKenna, who plays both hurling and football for St. John's GAC in west Belfast, was left fighting for his life after the car he was driving struck a tree on the Killead Road in Crumlin. Thankfully, he made a full recovery and was able to sit his exams.
On Thursday, he and his twin brother CJ both received their AS results at St. Mary's Christian Brothers Grammar School. Odhrán scored ABC, while CJ achieved an A and two Bs.
School principal John Martin told the Irish News: "Everyone in St. Mary's is absolutely delighted with Odhrán's AS results.
"Odhrán has demonstrated great strength of character to bounce back from such a serious injury and within a few short months attain such tremendous academic success. Odhrán has been supported every step of the way by his twin brother CJ who also enjoyed great success in his exams."
