Team news: Oak Leafers weakened for league opener

Derry manager Tom McLean has been forced to name a weakened team for their Allianz League Division 2A opener against Antrim at Celtic Park on Sunday.

McLean's side have lost up to 15 players from last year through retirement, injury and other reasons. Experienced trio Kevin and Liam Og Hinphey, and Ruairi McCloskey have called it a day while Michael Warnock, Conor Quinn and Niall Ferris are all unavailable.

The Oak Leafers are without the injured Paddy Henry and Paddy McCloskey for the visit of the Saffrons but can call on Eoghan Rua trio Ciaran Gaile, Ruaidhri Leonard and Thomas Magee off the bench.

Derry (NHL v Antrim): Darrell McDermott; Eugene McGuckin, Conor McSorley, Sean McCullagh; Darragh McCloskey, Paddy Kelly, Dermot O'Neill; Oisín McCloskey, Tiarnan McCloskey; Jonathan O'Dwyer, Mark McGuigan, Gareth O'Kane; Shane Farren, Ruairi Convery, Alan Grant.

Subs: Ciaran Gaile, Meehaul McGrath, Breandan Quigley, Brendan Douban, Deaglan Foley, Brendan Laverty, Johnny McCullagh, Mickey Conway, Niall Farren, Ruaidhri Leonard, Thomas Magee.
