Queen's University will appeal the suspension of Ciaran O'Hanlon despite exiting the Sigerson Cup yesterday.

The Armagh forward missed the 0-12 to 1-8 defeat to UL yesterday due to a ban handed down to him over his eligibility for the Belfast college.

O'Hanlon is one of three players, who are students of Stranmillis University College, which is the teacher training institute within Queen's, whose eligibility was queried on the basis that they were not students of the University.

The Kileavy man failed to attend an appeal hearing last Saturday week as he was playing for Armagh in the National League but Queen's GAA development officer Aidan O'Rourke stated that they will proceed with their case to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA).

The former Armagh All-Ireland winner said that the suspension "calls into question the credibility of the Higher Education Committee in Croke Park".
