The Ulster Council's investigation into allegations that a Cargin player was bitten during last Sunday's clash with Crossmaglen has hit a brick wall after it wasn't mentioned in referee Joe McQuillan's report.

Ulster Council president Martin McAviney has confirmed to the Irish News that the alleged incident isn't contained in the referee's report, which was submitted in the last couple of days.

Cargin midfielder Michael McCann has claimed an opponent came up behind him and bit him on the shoulder during a 36th minute brawl, but this has been strongly refuted by Crossmaglen joint-manager Oisin McConville.

The claim overshadowed Cross' eight-point Ulster club SFC quarter-final victory over the Antrim champions at the Athletic Grounds.
