The Ardoyne Kickhams GAA club in north Belfast has vowed to replace its famous mural which was painted over last Friday.
There was much local anger when the artwork was painted over with black paint and replaced by an anti-PSNI banner erected by the Republican Network for Unity. Within hours, the banner was removed and replaced by a temporary Kickhams mural.
"We want something that will give people ownership of it," Kickhams chairman Stephen McVicker told the Irish News.
"Local groups are meeting up and agree that this is our wall and will not be touched again."
A spokesman for the Greater Ardoyne Residents Collective said those responsible for the anti-PSNI message "should not have painted over the club mural".
