Sean McVeigh says he deserved to be shown a red card when Antrim lost to Fermanagh in the Ulster SFC.

The highly-versatile Saffrons stalwart was given a straight red for an elbow on Ciaran Flaherty in the 31st minute but has a chance to make amends when the same two sides meet again in the Qualifiers this weekend:

"I went in and I thought I was going to hit the Fermanagh player with my shoulder and I went in that way but he slipped," McVeigh comments in The Irish News. "At the time, I thought I was hard done by. I rushed home and got to watch it and once I saw it I had no complaints.

"I caught him with the elbow right on the jaw. It was completely accidental but the decision was completely right. At the time I was just thinking 'I'm missing a championship match and I know how hard it is to play with 14 men'.

"I was really upset about it, really annoyed. But Maurice Deegan is one of the best referees in the country and I'd no complaints."
