Antrim's Justin Crozier has reflected on the horrific elbow injury that almost ended his football career.
The Saffrons defender suffered the nightmare dislocation during last summer's narrow Qualifier defeat in Limerick. It was a potentially career-ending blow but the fully-recovered Cargin clubman has since been installed as Antrim captain by new manager Frank Fitzsimons and started both national league Division Four outings to date this year:
"It was just bad luck," the centre back notes in The Irish News. "I remember it well. I jumped for a ball and I was hit in mid-air and twisted. I came down heavy on my left arm and the whole thing buckled backwards; my forearm was back where my shoulder was.
"They tried to put the elbow back in on the pitch but couldn't and they tried it in hospital but couldn't get it back in either, because it was that badly dislocated. I was semi conscious, so they had to knock me out to get it back in.
"They told me my arm probably wouldn't be straight again but I worked that hard it's straight again and it's probably as flexible as it was before. It's just not as strong as it was."
