Liam Dunne was grateful to newcomers Paudie Foley, Daithi Waters and Kevin Foley after Wexford scored a last-gasp win over Antrim in Division 1B of the Allianz Hurling League.

Harry Kehoe's late point earned the Model men a 1-24 to 2-20 victory after they had twice seen big leads wiped out by the plucky visitors.

"In the end, we were pleased with the two points. We won the game twice, handed it back to them, but then against one has to give credit to Antrim," the Wexford manager told the Irish News.

"We went seven points clear in the second half and seemed to be cruising, but all of a sudden the wheels came off, but a couple of the newcomers came up trumps on the day, Paudie Foley, Daithi Waters and Kevin Foley, while Jack Guiney hurled superbly, giving us real options when he came out to wing forward."

Dunne's Antrim counterpart Kevin Ryan reflected: "We're disappointed to lose but happy with the effort and the manner the players dug in. We are disappointed we did not get a result, for we played some fine hurling midway through the second half, kept plugging away, picking off scores, but it's no use picking off scores and making silly mistakes."
