The Fir Uladh squad which contested last year's Iomain Colmcille in Connemara

Some of Ulster's finest Irish speaking hurlers will travel to Glasgow this weekend for the Iomain Colmcille, International Hurling-Shinty tournament, which brings together Irish and Scottish culture.

In it's seventh staging, the event is being held in Glasgow for the first time at Lochinch Park this Saturday November 8th.

Last year in Connemara the 'Fir Uladh' squad were unbeaten over the tournament, with many of the same players part of the 2014 squad.

21 players from three counties will represent the 'Fir Uladh' side, who are taking part in the event for the third time.

The squad will be once again managed by Padraig Ó Mianain from the Eoghan Rua club in Derry, with 11 players from the Oak Leaf county involved.

Slaughtneil, the current Derry Senior Hurling and Football champions provide six of the squad.

Éanna Cassidy, who was a part of the successful hurling squad is set to don the provincial colours, with fellow clubmen Joe Doherty; Cathaoir Cassidy; Joe O'Loughlin, Liam Óg Flanagan and Frankie Kelly also involved.

Seven players with Antrim roots, including former Antrim Senior hurlers Áinle Ó Caireallain and Colm Duffin are part of the panel.

Ó Cairealláin, who now plays for Na Piarsaigh in Cork, is the current Cork Senior Football team Strength and Conditioning Coach, while Duffin captained 'Fir Uladh' in 2012, and returns to the squad this weekend, having missed out 12 months ago due to spending a year teaching Irish in Canada.

Ainle's brother Naoise is also a part of the squad.

Armagh Senior panellist Aidan Nutley is one of two players from the Orchard County involved.

Nutley was a part of the Craobh Rua, Camlough squad that were beaten in the 2013 Ulster Junior final, with fellow Armagh man Caoimhín Ó Daimhín from the Clann na nGael club also involved.

Meanwhile Tyrone are represented by Damian Ó Néill from Naomh Colum Cille.

Scotland are managed by Aonghas Macdonald, from Skye Camanachd and include a great deal of experience on their side with Skye captain, and Aonghas' brother, Gilleasbuig in the squad.
