Mike McGurn has stressed that he doesn't have a "magic wand" to turn Antrim's footballing fortunes around.
The newly-installed strength and conditioning coach, who has worked with a host of top teams in GAA, rugby union, rugby league and soccer circles in the past, has played down the importance of his role, insisting that it's the players who ultimately make things happen.
"You can be the fittest and strongest team in Ireland, but if you haven't got the players to put the ball over the bar or make the tackle, it's irrelevant," the Fermanagh native explained to the Irish News.
"My role is really not that important. The most important person in any set-up is the player. The strength and coach is irrelevant because we all do the same thing anyway - it doesn't matter if it's Mike McGurn, Paddy Tally (Derry) or Julie Davis (Armagh).
"If it was all about strength and conditioning, you wouldn't pick footballers at all, you'd pick athletes. They'd be the best at strength and conditioning."
