Anto Finnegan has issued an impassioned plea for the GAA and West Belfast residents to reach an agreement over Casement Park.

A legal challenge is being mounted against the proposed new 38,000-seater, £76m stadium and terminally-ill former Saffrons captain Finnegan fears that a great opportunity could be lost:

"These are the future stars of Antrim and wouldn't it be fantastic if they had a state-of-the-art stadium on their doorstep as I id growing up that will inspire them and future generations to establish our county as a powerhouse in Ulster as it once was?," the St Paul's clubman asks in The Irish News.

"This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for Antrim and Ulster GAA to leave a lasting legacy for gaelic games in our city and across the province.

"If we cannot reach agreement on this propitious project, Antrim and Ulser Gaels, Belfast and the north will all be losers culturally, cosially and financially."
