Seamus Stout McDonald U14 Hurling Championship

June 18, 2014
On Monday 16/6 at Rossa Pk we had the official launch of the new Seamus Stout McDonald U14 Hurling South Antrim Championship. This is a new Championship and Rossa & the McDonald family are delighted that its going to be played for in memory of such a true Gael who served his club Rossa and his county for years with dignity and pride.

'Stout', as he was affectionately known far and wide, was a marvellous servant for the O'Donovan Rossa club as a player in both codes, then later as club chairman and latterly as club President. His playing prowess first became known as a member of the Rossa football side which won eleven in a row Antrim League titles from 1943. Graduating to the county scene, his fondest footballing memories included scoring a goal and point for Antrim in the Ulster semi final of 1952, a game which Antrim lost by a single point to a Cavan side that went on to win that year's All Ireland Final.

Handing over the cup to South Antrim Chairman Sean Boyle is Stouts son Jim along with Paddy Trainor Rossa juvenile chairman with representatives of clubs participating in the championship.
