Excitement is mounting in Hannahstown Community and Lámh Dhearg C.L.G. as plans to complete the Hannahstown village are nearing completion. Recently the sod will be cut in the car park of Lámh Dhearg to commence building of a village square and Children's playground. The square and playground will enhance the club environment and provide valuable and much needed facilities for the local community.

The exciting Lagan Rural Partnership initiative delivered through the Rural Development Programme has been actively supported and endorsed by Belfast and Lisburn City Councils. The Hannahstown area has suffered for a lack of public funds for many years and local representatives are delighted that both City Councils are backing the project and have committed a degree of match funding.

Cllr Anne Marie Beattie, Chairman of Lagan Rural Partnership's Joint Council Committee said 'The Partnership has offered up to £250,000 grant to this village renewal scheme which we hope will assist in building on the hard work of Belfast City Council and the local Community Association to ensure Hannahstown is a vibrant village to live and work in'

Jim McCormick, Chairman of Hannahstown Community Association said" It is very exciting to see that our village renewal project is soon to become a reality. We are very grateful to Lagan Rural Partnership for funding this project and for the positive support of Belfast and Lisburn City Councils and the project will be a huge benefit to our community."

Barney Herron, Chairman of Lámh Dhearg CLG said "we are proud to be partners in this exciting development which will benefit the Hannahstown community for many years to come. We are grateful to The Lagan Rural Partnership who have provided funding along with Belfast and Lisburn City Councils for all of their help and support in this project. All of us at the Lámh Dhearg C.L.G. hope for continued good working relationships in the future.

A great day for Làmh Dhearg."
