Sigerson Cup: Eastwood inspires Queen's to first round win

January 11, 2020

Queen's star Odhran Eastwood in the colours of his club Naomh Eanna.

Odhran Eastwood scored 1-3 in nine second half minutes to help Queen's University to a 1-14 to 1-8 victory over TU Dublin City in the opening game of this year's Sigerson Cup at The Dub.

The game was on a knife-edge when Eastwood netted in the 59th minute to propel the Belfast students into a 1-10 to 1-6 lead.

Cavan man Paddy O'Reilly's fisted goal in the 27th minute helped the Dublin side to a 1-3 to 0-5 lead before Ciaran Higgins replied to leave it all-square at the interval.

It continued to be nip-and-tuck until Eastwood's late goal secured Queen's passage into the second round.
