Tyrone defender Michael McKernan is adamant that there is no chance that they will take Antrim for granted in their Ulster SFC quarterfinal on Saturday evening.

The counties head to the Athletic Grounds in Armagh to battle it out for a place in the provincial semi-final and as expected Tyrone are overwhelming favourites to advance to the last four.

However, McKernan points to the fact that Derry ran them so close just two weeks ago as a reason for them not to take the Saffrons lightly.

“We were big favourites against Derry too but they gave us a big scare and nearly caught us but thankfully we did enough to get over the line,” McKernan told the Ulster Herald.

“You know coming into the Ulster championship that there is no such thing as an easy game.”

He added: “Last year Fermanagh were the surprise team so we can’t take anything for granted with Antrim. They will push us hard like Derry did and they will have the fitness too. Hopefully, we will get over the line with them too.”
