Despite being home from his travels, Jerome Johnston has yet to make a return to the Down senior football squad.

The Kilcoo clubman helped the Mourne men reach the 2017 Ulster SFC final but doesn't appear to be in the reckoning for this year's provincial opener against Antrim at Pairc Esler on May 26th.

"Jerome is focusing on the club at the minute. I've watched him a couple of times and he's played really well for Kilcoo," Down manager Eamonn Burns told The Irish News.

"It's important that he's playing weekly with the club because he's been out of football for quite a long time and we'll keep an eye on him. I've been speaking to him over the last couple of weeks so we'll be keeping in touch."
