Just three games were played in the Dr McKenna Cup this afternoon after the Armagh v Derry, Down v UUJ and Monaghan v Donegal ties were postponed due to frozen pitches.

In the games that did go ahead, Antrim registered their first win under new manager Lenny Harbinson, while seven-in-a-row chasing Tyrone and Fermanagh were also victorious.

In Section A, Conor Murray scored a goal in each half as Antrim defeated Cavan by 4-10 to 2-14 on the 4G pitch at Woodlands. Bryan Magee fisted an early goal for the visitors, only for Paddy McBride and Murray to reply with goals for the winners, who took a three-point lead into the break.

Ryan and Conor Murray raised further green flags in the second half for Antrim with Niall McKiernan's late strike not enough to save Cavan.

Also in Section A, Ciaran McLaughlin netted in the 22nd minute as holders Tyrone defeated St. Mary's by 1-16 to 1-11 in Coalisland.

The students responded with a goal of their own from Jarlath Og Burns, but still trailed by 1-5 to 1-7 at the interval. In the second half, Tyrone made their experience count as scores from Peter Harte, Ronan O'Neill and subs Mattie Donnelly and Tiarnan McCann secured the win.

In Section C, Fermanagh recovered from the concession of an early Niall Keenan goal to edge out Queen's by 1-10 to 1-9 at Brewster Park. 

Queen's led by 1-4 to 0-6 at half-time, but with the returning Seamus Quigley - who was introduced in the 27th minute - slotting home a penalty, Rory Gallagher's men fought back to make it two wins from two.
