Very disappointing feeling after yesterday, there's a real sense we left that behind. Kerry were the better team but we had more than enough chances in the second half to win the game. Shocking inaccuracy and decision making in the last 10 minutes especially. Well done to the lads for what they achieved this year. A heartbreaking loss especially with some of the chances we missed, it was really there for us. Unfortunately this is the end of this age group all being together. They gave Meath their first minor all Ireland in 29 years and their first Leinster 20's in 23 years so I want to thank them. I really hope 4/5 of them can make the jump and be real impact players for our senior team. The senior development panel that Sean Coffey came off will be a good help to keep them in the system as most players need 2 or 3 years to get up to the S&C to compete nevermind make a huge impact. Loads of these lads have played Freshers for good colleges and hopefully a bunch will play Sigerson that will help them too. If we give them top coaching and S&C then in 2-3 years time they will start to improve the senior team but still lots of work to be done. this shudnt be the end of the journey for these talented much of young men , the county board should act swiftly and contact all the lads in there last year of 20s and inform them that come the end of the year , they are gonna be brought into the development squad for at least a couple of years and see how they progress and please god many of them will progress into the senior set up in time , it would be an outrage if the county board just let them flitter back to there clubs and many not to be heard of again in county set ups , but again the county board shud sort this out pronto , what a journey these bunch of lads have brought us on over the last 6 years brian (Meath) - Posts: 1955 - 14/05/2024 13:50:59 2544724 Link 0 |

This is exactly what should be done and I would expect it will be put forward and happen come October/November. It shouldn't be the end of this group after what they've given us this year and at minor level. These lads need to be down in dunganny once or twice a week atleast to develop into inter county players, going back to their clubs is great but won't bring them on as much as they can. Get them in working with a nutritionist, s+c coach, gym programmes, high quality coaching/training and over time you'd hope to see results within 2/3 years with some lads. There's no reason why this shouldn't happen and hopefully Cathal O'Bric and the county board push for this.

Going back to their clubs is not going to bring them on?
