It was a busy weekend on the minor front with the staging of the Football and Hurling Tournament finals. PHOTOS
Trim claimed the Minor A hurling title at the expense of O’Mahonys on Friday night in Kiltale while Wolfe Tones accounted for Na Fianna in the B final at Kilmessan. Rathmolyon/Boardsmill scored four goals to see off Kilmessan in the C decider on Saturday at Grangegodden.
While Sunday was a day of rest there were eight football finals down for decision on Monday. The Bank Holiday was a memorable one for Simonstown who claimed the A and Premier crowns. Dunboyne needed extra time to see off St. Pats in the B final. Gaeil Colmcille staged a late late comeback to beat Skryne in the Group C decider. Dunderry had the minimum to spare over Ballivor in the Group D final. St. Ultans/Cortown Gaels and Duleek Bellewstown served up a cracker in the E decider with the combination side claiming victory with a point from a penalty in the last play of the game. In Sean Newman Park Moynalvey/Boardsmill were too strong for Drumconrath/Meath Hill in the Group F final.
After all that excitement it’s now on to the leagues set to start next week.
