MHT Group A final: Title for Trim

May 05, 2024

Trim had four points to spare over O'Mahonys in the MHT Group A final at Kiltale

Trim 1-18 Navan 2-11

With Trim and Navan O’Mahonys as finalists in this Cup final it promised to be a tough and entertaining game of hurling and that’s exactly what these young lads from both teams served up.  It was a non-stop end to end game with great skill and tackling and neither team giving in. PHOTOS

Navan were straight in from the throw in and found the back of the Trim net with two goals within the first three minutes. But the lads kept the head, followed their game plan, settled in with two points and then in the 5th minute a well taken goal from Cathal O’Reilly getting Trim back into contention.  Trim continued to dominate in the first half with some excellent points from play and frees from Daniel Fox, Alex Cole, Tadhg Foley, Alex Fox and Leon Harris.

Half Time 1-14 Navan O’Mahonys 2-04

The second half resumed with Navan having a slight wind advantage and making good use of same doggedly trying to lessen Trim’s lead.     But Trim never lost concentration, keeping their shape and with some excellent work between the uprights from Fionn Ennis keeping them in the game.   With Alex Cole stepping up to take some well executed frees Trim came out of this on the final whistle with a very well-deserved win.

Congratulations to the management team of Joey Cole, Eoghan Ryan and Josh Harris, all members of our U/21 panel, stepping up and taking on this team.  The panel showed great team spirit and skills and is a testament to the lads’ involvement.   To Fergal Taheny on their back-room team and to young Dylan Harris helper and water boy on the day
