May 02, 2024

Stephen Dolan gains possession for St. Michaels / Nobber against Clonard

St. Michaels / Nobber 3-09, Clonard 0-07

The St. Michaels / Nobber combination progressed to the final of the Group F minor tournament following this comfortable victory over Clonard in Carlanstown on Tuesday evening last. Top scorer on the night Fionn Murray set the tempo for the winners with his opening point after six minutes, Stephen Dolan found the back of the net six minutes later to put his side two points up after Clonard converted two frees. Murray (1) and Sean Behan (2) gave their side a 1-4 to 0-4 half time advantage.

Murray added a goal to his tally four minutes into the new half when a free from C.J. Lynch rebounded off the cross bar and fell nicely for him and he make no mistake from a few yards out. Sean Behan split the posts a minute later for a seven point lead. The combination side lost midfielder Jake Clarke to a black card and Clonard took advantage with two unanswered points but St. Michaels / Nobber were now in cruise control all over the pitch with the points sailing between the posts from Murray, Behan and Nobber man Korede Otubango. Stephen Dolan completed a good evenings work with the last score of the match.
This was a great overall team performance from the St. Michaels / Nobber side who will now play Rathkenny / St. Marys in the final on Monday evening next in Castletown at 5pm.
