Senior Football Championship 2024

It has been a good year for the provincial championships. Cork and Clare gave Kerry good games. Connacht had competitive semi-finals and final. Ulster delivering as always. Great scenes of celebration after the Connacht and Ulster finals.

Phew. Do feel for Armagh but delighted for Jim and the boys.

Our reward…Tyrone at home first up. Eek! If we can win that, quarter final will feel very in reach with benefit of arriving fresher than potential opponents.

The whole group stages have its flaws but if there's one result above all else that will ignite this championship, it would be Mayo beating Dublin (in an actual neutral venue) and putting Dublin into the preliminaries.

Next few weeks will be fast and furious.

1) Galway, Armagh and Derry to battle for the group win and the direct route to the quarter-finals.
Westmeath nearly knocked Tyrone out last year and they'll be looking to go one better and cause an upset this year.
2) Dublin and Mayo to battle for the group win and the direct route to the quarter-finals.
Cavan and Roscommon to battle for the third qualifying spot in Round 3.
3) Donegal and Tyrone to battle for the group win and the direct route to the quarter-finals.
Clare and Cork to battle for the third qualifying spot as early as Round 1.
4) Kerry and Monaghan to battle for the group win and the direct route to the quarter-finals.
Louth and Meath to battle for the third qualifying spot also as early as Round 1.

Replying To realdub:  "Yes Mick it was superb, the Ulster championship should never die. I'm glad Leinster wasn't the bloodbath everyone was expecting."
Yeah RealDub today was brilliant for the drama but the score taking was topclass.Ulster is always competitive but has produced very boring football at times but recently its been so exciting.Agree it was also great the Leinster final was nt a massacre and fair play to Louth and Ger Brennan.Micky Harte did great work with Louth but Ger Brennan seems to have brought them on even more.to another level. As usual Brian Fenton stood tall.

It took a Kerryman to make Clare competitive in the Munster final and a Dub to make Louth competitive in the Leinster final.

Some fixtures, venues, times. Fair play to Hoganstand. I've only looked at gaa.ie on my phone but find the fixtures hard to work out.
